Wang Xicheng's fortune rose following the July 2016 IPO of his tire manufacturer, Shandong Linglong Tire, on the Shanghai Stock Exchange. Its predecessor was a state-owned tire factory founded in 1975 in Shandong Province. The company was on the verge of collapse in 1987 when Wang was named leader and shifted its focus to pricier tires. The company is now a supplier to GM, Ford, Tata, Fiat and Hyundai.
