About Me

Ahmet Calik built his fortune on denim, selling to Diesel, Levi's, Gap and other Western brands, but textiles are now ancillary in his group Calik Holding. With a footprint stretching from Turkey and the Middle East to Eastern Europe and Central Asia, Calik is active in construction, banking, telecom and mining. Calik Holding has a partnership with Mitsubishi Corp. dating back to 1990s, when the companies began collaborating on plant construction in Central Asia. In 2015, Mitsubishi acquired 4.5% of Calik Energy, which serves five cities in Turkey and has projects in such places as Turkmenistan, Libya, Georgia and Yemen. Besides providing services to energy plants, the company has electricity and gas distribution businesses and a portfolio of power generation assets.
